Pilates
Pilates is a physical & mental health system developed in the early 20th century to align the body & strengthen the core. Pilates exercises use precise breathing, concentration, & muscular control to align the posture, enhance balance, correct muscle imbalances, optimize coordination, and increase stamina. Practitioners have experienced increased bone density, fixed damaged or frozen joints, reduced back pain, and improved agility & motion for all sports.

 

Shinkyokushinkai Karate

Shinkyokushinkai is a full contact style of Karate with origins that can be traced to Mas Oyama, who established Kyokushin Karate in 1965. This style of Karate emphasizes hard physical training & discipline, and many Kyokushin fighters became famous for their exceptional strength and fighting spirit. Shinkyokushinkai was founded after Mas Oyama’s death in 1994, and strives to remain true to the martial & spiritual codes established by Mas Oyama. Master Lau is a 1st Degree Blackbelt & certified instructor in Shinkyokushinkai and has had decades of experience teaching martial arts. In the course, Master Lau will emphasize the three aspects of Karate: Kihon (basic technique), Kata (forms), Kumite (sparring), focusing on strong basics and safe friendly sparring.

 

Wu Zu Baihe Quan – Five Ancestor White Crane Fist
Wu Zu Baihe Quan is Southern Chinese martial art with an emphasis on breath & body coordination, strength training, and efficient movement. Due to hundreds of years of cultural exchange between Southern China and Okinawa, this style of martial arts was very influential in the development of Okinawan Karate, which later influenced other styles of Karate. Master Lau is a lineage holder of Wu Zu Baihe Quan and one of the few instructors in Singapore. In the course, Master Lau will emphasize building the inner strength through the Sanchin form, and learning the original empty-hand and weapon forms handed down by the founder of Wu Zu Baihe Quan.
